When the driver presses the clutch pedal, it disconnects the engine from the wheels, allowing for smooth gear changes without grinding. Once the desired gear is selected and the pedal is released, the clutch re-engages, transferring power back to the wheels and enabling the vehicle to move. This mechanism is essential for controlling speed and torque in manual transmission vehicles.

How do I know if the clutch needs replacing? 

A clutch replacement might be necessary if you notice any of the following issues: a clutch pedal that feels spongy, sticks, vibrates, or is loose when pressed; unusual squeaking or grumbling sounds during operation; the engine revs but acceleration is lacking; challenges when shifting gears; or a 'slipping' clutch that leads to brief acceleration loss.
