TYRES
Tyres
Ensuring that your vehicle is equipped with the appropriate tyres is crucial for maintaining safety while driving. Additionally, regular maintenance of these tyres is vital for safe operation on the road. When evaluating tyre condition, several factors must be considered, including signs of wear, the integrity of the sidewall, and, most importantly, the tread depth of the tyres.
Tyre tread wear indicators, commonly referred to as wear bars, are elevated rubber strips found within the primary grooves of a tyre's tread. They serve as a visual cue for drivers, signalling when the tread depth has diminished to the legal minimum of 1.6mm in the UK, indicating that the tyre should be replaced. These indicators are typically labeled with "TWI" on the sidewall of the tyre.
Once your tyres reach a tread depth of 1.6mm, it’s important to replace them as soon as possible to ensure maximum safety on the roads, as well as remaining law compliant. If you have any concerns about your tyres, or are worried that they are wearing down too quickly, make sure to have them checked over by a professional as soon as possible.
Harrietsham Garage & MOT Limited can repair your tyre whilst you wait or replace with a new tyre the same day.
